Excuse me while I interrupt your irregular blog expectations to complain about my weight. When I say "my weight" I mean the 135lbs of my 5 foot, 6ish-inches frame that is considered "normal" and maybe even "healthy". It's seriously making me nuts.
Let me explain. Back in the days of being 18, stressed out with college and training for a marathon I was oh... 120lbs. I'd like that again. Thanks. The reality is, though, that no matter how much yoga I do I've noticed two things:
1. Yoga is really great for strength training but unless I'm doing hot yoga/bikrim I'm not getting enough cardio to burn the calories I need to drop weight.
2. My diet fluxes between "good job" and "Oh hello there alcohol, thin mints, and excessive amounts of bread."
So yoga is basically keeping my weight consistent. Which is fine, I guess. I mean considering the amount of junk I've been consuming this month it is actually doing a good job. But because of all this, I'm looking forward to getting back into double digit runs again. Not because I want to be 120lbs again. Ok, maybe a little but that's unreasonable and I look like Skeletor.
This is all to say that I can totally do a headstand, but that's not going to help me lose weight. (duh)
